These two cooking instruments work by generating heat. But the heat source differs for both of them.
A convection toaster oven operates by using a basic strip of heating segments located on the top and bottom for adequate heating for cooking.
In contrast to this, an air fryer uses a stronger heating source mostly present in the shape of a coil.
It has a powerful fan that makes it superior and marks a big difference pushing to be better than a convection toaster oven.

If I talk about the size and capacity then a toaster oven is on the top, because it has an extensive capacity to prepare a tremendous amount of meals.
A toaster oven can cook food faster and with a vast assortment of batch after batch for large servings.
You can cook a whole chicken, large size pizza, and lamb chops which cannot be prepared in an air fryer.
An air fryer is compact which is a reasonable point to fit it in small places.
It is best for small families and for preparing a small portion of snacks like fries, chicken wings, chicken nuggets, and 1 to 2 tenders. Both devices can be stored when not in use.

Frying capabilities:
As an air fryer is smaller and compact, the distance between the food and fan is less which makes more crispy fried food better than deep frying.
On the other hand, convection toaster ovens are larger in size and have more space and prepare less crispy food, and do not copy the crunchiness of a deep fryer.
